Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia, SC is Ah-Mazing. Trust me. My kid literally thinks he’s Tarzan and feels at home at the Zoo. So you best believe we have a membership. This Zoo is one of the best I've experienced. And here are my Criteria for a good one:
Can you feed animals? Check
Can you watch animals eat? Check
Sea life and exotic animals? Check
Walkability with a double stroller that neither kid uses? Check and Check.
Columbia is only about an hour and a 1/2 drive away from Charlotte and this one is worth it. So do yourself a favor, ask a family member to gift you a membership for a birthday or holiday. So you can have a fun, and free weekend adventure that makes both kids pass out on the way home. ;)
ps. You can bring food into this zoo. They don’t even make you buy food there! They also brew starbucks coffee, so you can have the energy to chase your kiddos.
